• I might do a few touches, a bit of glazing here and there, but the #paint is wet now, so I’ll wait ‘til next week. It already has many, many #layers of oil paint. ‘Skin’ isn’t ‘built in a day’.🙃
•• This is a place I’ve never been myself, it’s based on an image of a friend that I sort of appropiated by adding elements but mainly by imposing my #painter’s perspective on it.
••• It’s nice, as an artist, to feel as free as possible in what and how you want to paint.

Funny again how the #movie I recently watched (#Bird by Andrea Arnold, whose films I’m a fan of) and the nature descriptions in a book I read (The Vegetarian by Han Kang) inspired me for the final touches. #workinprogress #wip 🎨 Second phase of a #new work in setup – I always love the abstraction in the initial stages of setting up a new painting. Over the past two years, I’ve even been working on a #canvas that will remain semi-abstract (a loosely commissioned piece). This stage offers so much freedom (everything is still possible) and makes it fascinating to watch the planned scene emerge.
This one is one of three small works of a specific subject/location/region that is inspired by a friend for whom I am making one small painting. It’s a gift from all her friends and family to celebrate her earning a doctorate. I always like to make more than one work to be able to do exactly what I think is best and most interesting. And of course because I can’t choose between several nice ideas.😉
